Directors 

Director: Sarah Overton

Sarah Overton has over 20 years of dance experience in jazz, hip hop, modern, contemporary, pom, ballet and drill team. Mrs Overton attended LIberty Hill High School and was a member of the Liberty Hill High School Liberty Belles and Captain her senior year. During her time with the Belles, she choreographed numerous field performances, spring show performances and pep rally routines for her team.

After graduating high school, Mrs Overton was asked to be a teachers assistant at the prestigious American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive, was a professional cheerleader for the Texas Stars and attended Texas State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a minor in Business Administration. During her time at Texas State, Mrs. Overton started teaching students of all ages as the Drill Team Program Coordinator at Acrotex Performing Arts. During her time at the studio, she taught many classes including ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz and drill team prep classes. Mrs, Overton was the founding director of two dance companies including her award winning competition company, Legacy Dance Company. Mrs. Overton has also served as a Professional Mentor for Texas Future Dance Educators and is a member of Texas Dance Educators Association.

During her time as Director of the Royse City High School Debs, the Golden Debs have been awarded numerous awards and accolades including receiving Overall Grand Champions at Danceline and Division Champions at HTE. 

​

Mrs. Overton is married to her husband, Cameron and together they have two amazing dogs Sophie & Jax. This will be Mrs. Overton's fourth year with the Debs and she is looking forward to another successful year!

Assistant Director: Ashley Escobar

Ashley Escobar was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a member of the National Championship winning Keller Central Lightning Dancers for 3 years. During her senior year, Ashley was selected as Dancer of the Year. After graduating high school, Mrs. Escobar was a member of the professional touring company called Movers Unlimited at Tarrant County College. During her time in this dance company, Ashley had various dance opportunities in New York City and Chicago. Upon completing her time at Tarrant County College, Mrs. Escobar transferred to Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She earned an undergraduate degree Dance Studies with a minor in Business Administration in the Spring of 2017. After graduating from TWU, Mrs. Escobar was a participant of the Disney College Program in Orlando, FL for the Walt Disney World Company during the Fall of 2017.

 

Mrs.Escobar began her education career at Community High School in Community ISD. Ashley directed the Dazzlin' Dames from 2018, to the end of the 20-21 school year. Under her direction, the Dazzlin' Dames have won various Grand Championship titles in the Small Team Division. During the 2021 Spring season, the organization claimed their first National Championship. During her time at CISD, Mrs. Escobar taught various CTE courses and pioneered the Dance and PE program.

Ashley Escobar is married to her high school sweetheart, Erik, and they have a dog named Princess. During her free time, Mrs. Escobar enjoys traveling, dancing, and spending time with friends and family.

 

Mrs. Escobar is so excited to join the staff at Royse City HS and to be a part of the Golden Debs legacy and organization!
